A Guest In His Own House

         When Odysseus asks for food the men give him scraps of food, they think that someone sent Odysseus who looks like the old man. They don't know that the old man is actually Odysseus. They treat Odysseus very bad, they insulted him, and then try and fight Odysseus. No one thinks that Odysseus is going to come home so they start as many problems as they can. I don't think they should have treated him with disrespect even if it was Odysseus and they knew it our not.
          In the article i read it was about two young men who beat up a 59 year old man who was homeless. The man is homeless and was behind a burger king one day looking for cans, when the two men came up to him and started beating him up. The men hurt him pretty badly and then got away until the older man went to get treatment for the damage on his body from the young men. Once the older man complained about what happened to him the local police got a hold of the two young men and arrested them as soon as possible. The one young man had his court date and has to go to jail for a year and/or 1,000 dollars fine. The other young man hasn't had his court date yet. I think the two young men should go to jail longer, its disrespect to beat up person. I don't agree with what they did, the older man wasn't doing anything to them but they could mind their own business and had to start with a poor old man who is harmless. I think that people like to pick on people who are weaker then them so then that person feels bigger when they really aren't.
       I think that what happened to Odysseus and the old man are two stories that are just alike. They are both treated badly and don't deserve it, they were unharmful men minding their own business. I think that they both got treated poorly because they are "weaker" because they are both older men. The suitors and theses young boys thought it would have been funny to beat up people who are weaker then them. They both were wrong for what they did, and should have gotten in a lot more trouble.

Returning home

Jeffery Springsteen's situation relates to Odysseus  because they both return home and their houses are trashed. Jeff's house was trashed, broke windows, throw up everywhere, missing things, poop on the floors, just gross and discalled for. They both were away to fight for their country and that's the pay back they get, people should respect them for fighting for us. I don't agree with what the kids did, because it's disrespect and people should be cheering them on for being away and fighting for us. I think the kids should be charged with a lot of fines and jail and community service time. The kids should get in so much trouble that the kids will never want to do something like that again. I don't think the kids should ever get away with something like this at all. I don't think that Jeff or Odysseus should have returned home and seen their houses trashed, they didn't deserve it at all. People should be going onto anyone property and vanishing what belongs to someone else. I would be very mad and upset to know that someone was brave enough to do this to stuff that i own and my house that i live at. I think that it was worst that he came home and saw his house like that, the people who live around you know what goes on in your life. The teens had to know some what that he was in the army or air force anything. I would never go for this, and if they were my kid they would never be happy to be around me or hear what i have to say.

It's Tricky

I don't think it was a good idea for Odysseus to make the Trojan horse and sneak behind his enemies back. It was sneaky and not a good idea, he was getting himself in more trouble then he should have. Odysseus is tricky and brave at the same time, he was brave for doing this to his enemies but he's sneaky by doing it behind their back with out them catching on. He knew what he was doing and didn't get caught and still pulled it off. I give Odysseus the credit for being able to build this big Trojan horse and have people in it and enter the town with out the towns people saying anything with it. He did a good job with it, but yet he is a very sneaky person i don't think i would have been able to pull it off and do what he did to anyone, my enemies not even close. I don't get how no one caught onto this idea and didn't realize that he was sneaking something in after all the drama they have had. That's why i think Odysseus is sneaky and also very brave, because the towns people could have caught on and killed him for what he did.

Halloween is one of favorite holidays, its the end of October. This year its on a Sunday and we have school the next day which i don't agree with. I think we should have off the next day, i want to go out for Halloween but its not that big of a Halloween anymore to kids my ages. Kids my age grew out of the Halloween fun, even most little kids aren't that excited for Halloween to come. Halloween is not like it used to be, I remember when I was younger I would count down til Halloween and i also would get my costume a month ahead and wear it every day til Halloween came. I remember going out with my friends with my pillow case and try to get more candy then i did the year before. Some people had cool ideas on Halloween like big candy bars, sodas, money, pretzels. The worst thing about Halloween was the walking, i loved trick or treating but I hated all the walking. I also remember coming home and my mom making me show my mom every piece of candy so she could check it to make sure it wasn't open or looked touched by anyone who was handing it out. I remember since I was alot younger then my brothers and they wouldn't go out, I would give them all the pieces of candy i didn't like. I wish Halloween was the same as it used to be, my mom buys alot of candy every year and it always seems like you have more and more left in our bowls after the night is over. Not many parents want their kids trick or treating because you cant trust people like you used to be able to, I don't blame the parents on that either though. I used to love Halloween but now its just another holiday to me even though I still wanna go out this Halloween to get all that candy. Many people don't give out candy to kids who are older either because they don't think teenagers should go trick or treating.

torture

           Torture and execution in England was a big thing, they always tortured people and even their wives. The husbands would put a gossip bridle or brank over their wives heads. People in England would also do things like the rack, the iron boot, etc. if they thought that someone was a witch, or if they did anything illegal. They used the pillory if someone stole, and they would let kids walk by you when you were in it and they kids would punch, spit, pull your hair, throw stuff at you, just to make you more mad since you couldn’t do anything about it. I don’t agree with any of these things, I am happy they don’t do it to this day. Many people got hurt or even killed from all those things. It wasn’t right what they did but back then you had no word in anything only guys did and they agreed with all of these objects.

I believe that capital and corporal punishment don’t work, because people would bring their families to these things and watch people they know get killed. You think if you watch someone get hanged for something they didn’t even do you wouldn’t do that either and you would be scared. To people that was their entertainment and they enjoyed it a lot. I know if I saw someone get kicked I would never do anything back enough to get killed or injured. I don’t get why people didn’t care about seeing someone die. I would be mad and upset if I saw someone get killed, I don’t like seeing people get injured now so I would never be about to watch what they did to people back than. I strongly disagree with this and don’t under stand why anyone would do this.

spying.

I don't think that Polonius should have written a love letter to Hamlet from his daughter and I also don't think Hamlets Mom and Uncle should have been spying with Polonius. They wouldn't want Halmet to be spying on them, for any reason. Its just something you don't do, its rude and not right I would hate if someone was spying on me. I also don't think that its right that the parent in the article was spying on her kids, if you have to spy on people it just means you cant trust people. The parent in the article is crazy, she's phone tapping her kids phone calls, and putting tape recorders in their room. Spying shouldn't be acceptable if you do it like that. I would so mad if my mom or anyone i know was spying on me, i wouldn't talk to them. I would try and stop talking to them, i think its stupid if you have to do that to people. I know i would never spy on anyone, cause it's disrespectful. Thats why i don't think spying is good, and shouldn't be allowed.

Hamlet and his father reconnect

King Halmet's ghost revels to Prince Halmet that Halmet's uncle who is the new King killed Prince Halmets Dad. King Halmet that died tells his son to go kill the new King, the new King is the old Kings brother. The old Kings wife married her husbands brother which made him the new King instead of Prince Halmet. Prince Halmet should have been the new King but instead wasn't, Prince Halmet is upset and also angry that he is not the new King. The Ghost asked prince Halmet to go kill the new King, since he can't. I believe that this will help Halmet's behavior and his state of mind, because him being able to see and talk to his Fathers ghost will make him happier that he has some connection to his Father. I also believe that Hamlet will stop wearing black clothes and be so upset all the time and mad at everyone and the world. Thats how i think it will change his behavior and his state of mind.
